Corporate Travel Planners Inc. Celebrates 20 Years in Business
(San Antonio, TX) June 30, 2011 - On July 2, 1991, it was the little travel agency that could, a one-location operation in San Antonio launched with only $1000 by founders Jim and Arlene Davie and partner Christy Prescott. Now, 20 years later, Corporate Travel Planners (CTP) is moving full steam ahead, having grown into one of the largest privately owned full service travel management companies in the state and one of the top 50 in the U.S. The company’s tremendous success has come under the careful guidance of Prescott, who took 100% ownership of the business in 1993.
CTP’s growth over the years- with sales annually of $115 million - has been driven by hard work and several strategic acquisitions including the purchase of Chaparral Travel in 1997, Champagne Travel and its eight retail locations in 1999, Rennert World Travel in 2000, and West Winds Travel in 2002.
Many of San Antonio’s top corporations and executives have been loyal customers for years thanks to the “white glove touch” and personable style of Prescott and her team. Their can do attitude and travel expertise –which their clients say are second to none - have enabled CTP to thrive in a highly competitive travel industry which has declined from 100+ San Antonio agencies when CTP opened for business to just eight local agencies today.
CTP’s offerings include corporate, sports team and leisure travel services (through Rennert, its leisure travel department), VIP travel services for high end travel, meeting and private event planning, and incentive management programs.
“We really do pride ourselves in offering an extensive scope of services to meet our clients’ needs, and delivering the customer service they expect - and we think they deserve - each and every time they work with us,” said Prescott. “We love what we do and hope to be able to serve our valued clients and friends for many years to come.”
Prescott’s business acumen and dedication to the travel industry have earned her recognition from the business community and her peers. Her honors include the 2001 Athena Award and the Overall Outstanding Small Business Leader of the Year award from the North San Antonio Chamber of Commerce.
When Prescott isn’t focused on travel, she is zeroing in on another important cause in her life, her non-profit organization Christy’s Hope. Each year, the organization hosts a community-wide golf tournament that raises thousands of dollars to benefit the Battered Women’s and Children’s Shelter of Bexar County.
“We have been so blessed to have a thriving, successful business that has been so good to all of us at CTP. Our team feels it is important to find meaningful ways to give something back to the community. It’s an added bonus that we all get to have fun on the golf course while doing it!”
As part of CTP’s 20th anniversary celebration, the company will be offering clients a number of special travel packages and fun incentives over the next several months.
